Surgery Department (OR/CVOR; Operating Room) Certified Surgical Technician (CST)

Our Baxter Health OR/CVOR has 13 operating rooms and averages 650 cases per month. Our cases include General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurological, Cardiovascular, Plastics, Ear Nose Throat (ENT), Urology, and Gynecological (GYN) procedures. We have a highly skilled, dedicated team of patient advocates working in an interdisciplinary environment. We support professional advancement through certification and education.

Position Highlights:

• Education Opportunities: Continue to advance your and your families’ education, utilizing Baxter Health Foundation Scholarships and certification support.
• Technology: DaVinci Surgical Robot; Navigational Spinal and ENT surgery; Hybrid OR for advanced vascular procedures, etc.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in surgeries under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel.
• Help set up the operating room, prepare and transport patients, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and supplies, hold retractors, cut sutures, and assist in counting sponges, needles, and instruments.
• Provide direct patient care in the perioperative unit.
• Proficient in a wide variety of high-level surgical technologist skills.
• Adhere to all standards of perioperative care and promote teamwork.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote evidence-based care within a healing culture for patients and families.

Job Requirements:

• Completion of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Surgical Technologist Certification through the Association of Surgical Technologists.
• BLS certification required.
