Job summary

St. David’s Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare in Austin, TX, seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist Resident to support the operating room.

You will ensure instrumentation is ready, assist scrub and circulating staff, and uphold asepsis and patient safety during surgery. The role requires CST certification within 6 months, surgical tech rotations in multiple areas, and an associate degree or vocational training.

Qualifications

• Surgical Tech clinical rotations in neurology, robotics, plastics, orthopedics, gynecology, ENT, urology preferred.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• CST certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper instrumentation and supplies on the surgical field and in the OR.
• Help the sterile operative team, scrub and circulate in the OR, and perform routine housekeeping duties.
• Apply asepsis practices, infection control, and medical ethics.
• Facilitate safe and effective completion of invasive surgical procedures.
• Position the patient and prepare draping of the patient and operative site.
• Assist circulating nurse with needle, sponge, and instrument counts.
