Job summary

St. David's North Austin Medical Center in Austin, TX, is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for PRN roles. In this position you will assist in preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile field, and providing instruments and supplies to the surgeon throughout procedures.

You will support the circulating nurse, ensure instrument counts, and help with patient care before, during, and after surgery. BLS certification and graduation from an accredited program are required.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Surgical Technician with competency in multiple inpatient surgical specialties is required.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or hospital-conducted on-the-job training with proof of program content and completion.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per policy; current certification within 180 days of graduation from approved programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in cleaning and preparation of the operating room suite.
• Provide instrumentation appropriate for the task and work within a sterile field.
• Assist the surgeon by supplying instruments and anticipating needs during procedures.
• Assist the circulating nurse in maintaining correct instrument counts and sterile setup.
• Prepare patients, equipment, and operating rooms for each procedure.
