Job summary

St. David's North Austin Medical Center, part of St. David's HealthCare, has PRN opportunities for a Certified Surgical Technologist.

You will assist in cleaning and preparation of the operating room, pass instruments, and support the surgeon before, during, and after surgery. You will work under the RN supervision, prepare patients and equipment, and maintain a sterile field. Eligibility includes graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program and BLS certification, with ongoing

Qualifications

• Experience as Surgical Technician with competency in multiple inpatient surgical specialties
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or hospital-conducted on-the-job training with proof of program content and completion
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Must hold current certification as a Surgical Technologist within 180 days from graduation (if graduated after Sept 1, 2009) from NBSTSA or NSCT or approved program

Responsibilities

• Assist in cleaning and preparation of the operating room suite
• Provide instrumentation to the surgeon in a sterile field
• Care for the operative patient before, during, and after surgery
• Prepare patients, equipment, and operating rooms for each procedure
• Maintain a clean and safe operating room suite for surgical patients
• Assist circulating nurse with correct instrument counts and supply/equipment management
