Job summary

AdventHealth in Celebration, FL is seeking a Surgical Technician to anticipate surgeon needs, assemble supplies, and maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures. The role includes supporting patient safety, staff collaboration, and adherence to regulatory standards in a fast-paced surgical environment.

You will work full-time days, collaborate with physicians and nursing staff, and contribute to quality improvement and efficient operating room turnover.

Qualifications

• English reading/writing and comprehension required.
• Aseptic/sterile technique and surgical instrumentation knowledge required.
• Knowledge of healthcare industry concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Up-to-date knowledge of surgical instruments and supplies for surgeons.
• Regulatory requirements and laws at various jurisdictional levels.
• Understand surgeon dictated instructions.
• Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office.
• Clear communication, anticipatory skills, and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of anatomy and assembly of mechanical devices.
• Ability to work with multiple team members.
• Flexible scheduling and adaptability to change.
• Organizational skills and customer relations.
• Proficiency in grammar/spelling and following written instructions.
• Keyboarding and computer skills.
• Ability to multitask and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Anticipates needs of the surgeon and informs circulating nurse.
• Maintains high standards for cost savings and containment.
• Assembles supplies, equipment, and medications prior to procedures.
• Supports satisfaction activities and maintains relationships with physicians and staff.
• Monitors aseptic technique and corrects any breaks.
• Reports environmental concerns and ensures regulatory compliance.
• Supervises other team members and aids orientation and training.
• Promotes safety and manages hazards in emergencies.
• Follows infection control policies and PPE usage.
• Participates in performance improvement and quality initiatives.
• Provides assistance to surgical team as needed.
• Assists with OR turnover and directs ancillary staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
