Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the West Jefferson Medical Center operating room team. The role emphasizes patient safety, sterile technique, and support for the surgeon and circulating nurse during procedures.

Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program, CST certification (NBSTSA or NCCT), and current BLS. A sign-on bonus is available and day shifts are listed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - NBSTSA or NCCT.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the circulating nurse with patient positioning, confirmation/preparation of operative site, care of operative specimens and room turnover.
• Establish and maintain an organized sterile field.
• Provide scrub assistance during procedures which reflect awareness of anatomy, necessary principles, skills, supplies, and adequate knowledge base.
• Demonstrate the application of the principles of asepsis and select proper sterilization method of instruments/equipment prior to procedures and verify sterile instruments taking corrective action when any unsafe practice, conditions or breaks in aseptic technique occur and report information to the circulating nurse.
• Prepare the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures based on scheduled procedure and surgeon preference card.
• Follow policies for scrubbing, gowning, gloving, setting up back table, draping and counting with the circulating nurse.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - NBSTSA or NCCT
