Job summary

Wellstar Health System is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist who will operate under the direction of a registered nurse to support safe, age-appropriate, and culturally aware patient care in moderate to high acuity surgical cases. The role requires preparation of the operative suite, instrument handling, aseptic technique, and collaboration with surgeons and other OR staff.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist required to have a certificate or associate's degree from a community college or a technical school and have passed the competency examination.

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for procedures, including preference cards.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments and supplies for procedures.
• Performs surgical counts with circulator and participates in the pause/time-out.
• Scrubs, gowns, and gloving for surgeon and team; assist in draping sterile field.
• Passes instruments to the surgeon and maintains an organized back table and sterile field.
• Prepares sterile dressings and assists in postoperative handling of specimens.
• Maintains sterile technique and helps prepare OR for next cases; coordinates with team.
