Job summary

Community Health Systems is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a full-time evening shift in Indiana. The position involves preparing the OR, maintaining a sterile field, and assisting the surgical team to ensure safe patient care.

The role requires CST and BLS certifications, 0–2 years of OR experience, and adherence to infection control and policy standards. Call rotations and holiday scheduling apply.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program required
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences required
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required
• CST certification and BLS required

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room by ensuring instruments, equipment, and supplies are ready based on the procedure and physician preference card
• Maintains a sterile field throughout the procedure per universal precautions and asepsis
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments and supplies accurately during procedures
• Handles instruments and equipment per manufacturer instructions and hospital policy, including inspection and sterilization
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts to support patient safety
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under RN direction
• Maintains documentation and procedural records
• Restocks supplies and prepares rooms for subsequent cases to ensure OR efficiency
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Maintains regular attendance and compliance with policies
