Job summary

Carilion Clinic is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to support perioperative care, maintain sterile technique, and assist surgical teams for quality patient outcomes. The role emphasizes instrument handling, accurate surgical counts, and clear communication with surgeons and staff.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, accredited CST training, and current CST certification (NBSTSA).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Current certification as a surgical technologist (NBSTSA) or equivalent.
• Military training in surgical technology acceptable for grandfathered appointments.
• Certification in Surgical Technology required; LPN license for grandfathered employees.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains a sterile field.
• Passes instruments safely to the surgeon.
• Participates in counts of sponges, needles, and instruments.
• Communicates with the surgical team to ensure continuity of care.
• Adheres to policies, procedures, and patient safety goals.
