Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience in an acute care Surgery Department with scrub responsibilities.
• Six months experience may be substituted if an ORT externship was completed on-site within the last year.
• Military trained candidates may substitute 10 years of military surgical tech experience for ORT/NCCT.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
• American Heart Association BLS Certification (BLS-CPR).
• Preferred: Completion of Operating Room Technician Training Course.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in the scrub technician role and assist during surgical procedures.
• Safely prepare, inspect, and operate complex medical equipment including microscopes, power tools, and sterilizers.
• Comply with medical center policies, clinical practice standards, and safety protocols.
• Exercise good judgment in resource utilization and adapt to changing environments daily.
• Deliver direct patient care services under RN supervision across diverse age groups.
• Follow instructions, analyze data, and manage daily tasks to meet clinical objectives.
