Job summary

FRANCISCAN ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY CENTER in Carmel, Indiana is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for the operating room. This full-time role includes duties such as preparing instrument trays, assisting the surgical team with prep, passing instruments, and supporting counts to ensure patient safety.

The candidate should hold a CST certification, and a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; a minimum of one year of surgical experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certificate required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (American Heart Association).
• 1 year of Surgery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instrument trays and sterile drapes; assist with gowning and gloving.
• Pass instruments to surgeons and surgical staff.
• Assist with sponge, needle, and materials counts; operate basic OR equipment as needed.
• Room patients, take vitals, handle orders, and route calls as part of patient flow.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Arrange instrument trays, prepare sterile drapes and solutions, and help the surgical team put on caps, gowns, and gloves. Assist with prep of patients as needed Pass instruments to surgeons and surgical assistants. May assist with sponge, needle, and other supply counts to track materials used in surgery. May operate suction, diagnostic, and sterilizing equipment, and package specimens to take for laboratory analysis. Clinic responsibilities may include rooming patients, taking vitals, orders, and routing phone calls
