Job summary

Texas Health Resources is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a full-time, days position at Texas Health Allen. The role emphasizes peri-operative care, instrument handling, and collaboration with the OR team in a high-volume setting.

Responsibilities include preparing patients for surgery, assisting in the operating room, maintaining sterile technique, and ensuring patient safety throughout perioperative care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent; completion required upon hire.
• 1 year of current operating room experience strongly preferred.
• CST certification required upon hire or prior employment in surgical tech.
• LVN license required upon hire (where applicable).
• BCLS certification required prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing peri-operative care for a patient population including Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics.
• Preoperatively assist RN circulator in formulating plan of care.
• Coordinate patient care peri-operatively and support standards for professional nursing practice.
• Post-operatively assist with instrument, supply and equipment care under supervision.
• Support infection prevention and patient safety practices.

Full Time- 40 hours; Monday-Friday 11:00am-7:00pm with on-call requirements

• Demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient's affiliations

Here's What You Need

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009 required OR
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program, Vocational Nurse Program, or completion of a military training program in surgical technology required upon hire OR
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program, Vocational Nurse Program, or completion of a military training program in surgical technology preferred
• DV5 Robot, Ortho, Spine and experience strongly preferred.
• 1 year of current operating room experience strongly preferred
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA or TS-C NCCT) and graduate of an accredited surgical tech program required upon hire OR
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA or TS-C NCCT) and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009 required upon hire OR
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA or TS-C NCCT) and completion of a military training program in surgical technology required upon hire
• LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse required upon hire
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support required prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly

What You Will Do

• Assist Assists in providing peri-operative care for a patient population that includes Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics.
• Preoperatively assists R.N. circulator in formulating plan of care.
• Assists as needed in coordinating patient care peri-operatively and assumes responsibility and accountability for behavior in order to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
• Post-operatively follows proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies and equipment. Under supervision, assists RN circulator with post-operative duties.
• Infection Prevention: Assists in the delivering of nursing care in a manner that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection and accidental contamination.
• Safety: Assists in delivering care in a manner which protects the patient from injury.
