Texas Health Allen is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Medical-Surgical Department on the Night shift. The role is full-time with three 12-hour nights per week, requiring weekend and holiday coverage.

The unit features a 25-bed setting with strong leadership and opportunities in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates will have a Nursing Diploma or Associate degree, preference for BSN, and at least one year of RN experience or completion of an RN residency.

Qualifications

• Nursing Diploma or Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program.
• BSN preferred.
• One year of experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program.

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients using the Nursing Process.
• Assesses the patient.
• Plans the care of the patient.
• Intervenes as appropriate.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
• Incorporates age-specific safety and infection control measures.

Work Hours: (Nights) 7:00 pm-7:00 am, Full-time, (3) 12-hour shifts, weekends and holidays required

Medical Surgical Department Highlights

• 25-bed unit
• Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team
• Fast-Paced, high-volume department cases: include post-surgery care including ortho, spine, plastics, general surgery and general medical overflow patients.
• The professional nurse exhibits understanding of basic human needs.

Here’s What You Need

• Nursing Diploma or Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program
• BSN preferred
• One-year experience as a registered nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.

One Year Of Medical Surgical Experience Strongly Preferred

• RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Req And
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Req And
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training 60 Days Req And
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support 90 Days Req

What You Will Do

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
