Texas Health Resources is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech (CST) for Perot Surgery at Texas Health Dallas. Work location is Dallas, TX, with PRN weekday hours. The role supports peri-operative care across all ages and emphasizes infection control, safety, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications include CST certification, prior OR experience (2+ years preferred) and education as a Surgical Tech or LVN with BCLS. Strong preference for Robotic, GYN, Plastics, and Breast Oncology experience.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent and prior facility surgical tech practice before September 1, 2009.
• Graduate of accredited surgical tech program or military training in surgical technology.
• Preferred: at least 2 years CST OR OR experience; Robotic, GYN, Plastics, and Breast Oncology exposure preferred.
• CST graduate of an accredited surgical tech program.
• Upon Hire: CST certification and prior practice in surgical technology in a healthcare facility before September 1, 2009.
• Upon Hire: CST certification or military training in surgical technology; LVN considered.
• Upon Hire: BCLS certification prior to independent patient care and kept current.
• Upon Hire Required

Responsibilities

• Intra-operatively displays skills and behavior conducive to desirable outcomes.
• Assists in peri-operative nursing care for patients from Infants to Geriatrics.
• Preoperatively assists RN circulator in formulating plan of care.
• Assists in coordinating patient care peri-operatively and maintains professional nursing standards.
• Post-operatively assists RN circulator with instrument and supply handling.
• Infection control: minimizes infection risk during care delivery.
• Safety: protects patients from injury.
• Continuous improvement: emphasizes quality, service and cost effectiveness.
• Age-specific care tailored to life stages from infant to older adult.

Work location: Texas Health Dallas, 8200 Walnut Hill Lane, Dallas, TX 75231.

Work hours: PRN- Weekdays (Monday–Friday), 6:30 AM–5:00 PM

Here’s What You Need

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009.
• Req Or - Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, vocational nurse program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology.
• Preferred - At least 2 years of CST Operating room experience · Experience in Robotic, GYN, Plastics, and Breast Oncology procedures strongly preferred

What You Will Do

• Intra-operatively displays skills and behavior conducive to desirable outcome.
• Nursing Process: Assists in providing peri-operative care for a patient population that includes Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics.
• Preoperatively assists R.N. circulator in formulating plan of care.
• Professional accountability: Assists as needed in coordinating patient care peri-operatively and assumes responsibility and accountability for behavior in order to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
• Post-operatively follows proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies and equipment. Under supervision, assists RN circulator with post-operative duties.
• Infection Control: Assists in the delivering of nursing care in a manner that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection and accidental contamination.
• Safety: Assists in delivering care in a manner which protects the patient from injury.
• Continuous Improvement: Care is provided with an emphasis on continually improving quality, service and cost effectiveness.
• Age Specific Care: Demonstrates competence in assisting with the performance of age appropriate patient care that is specific to the unique physiological and anatomic aspects of life from the very young to the older adult.
