Texas Health Allen seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a part-time weekend shift in Surgery. The role requires CST certification and prior surgical tech program completion, with preference for OR experience.

The position supports peri-operative care across age groups, assists RN Circulator, and upholds infection prevention and safety standards in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Strong team collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or equivalent and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before Sept 1, 2009 (required)
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or completion of military training in surgical technology (required upon hire)
• CST certification (NBSTSA or TS-C NCCT) required upon hire or prior employment in surgical tech

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing peri-operative care for patients from Infants to Geriatrics.
• Preoperatively assist RN circulator in formulating plan of care.
• Coordinate patient care peri-operatively and support professional nursing practices.
• Post-operatively assist RN circulator with duties and care of instruments/supplies.
• Assist in infection prevention and safe patient care practices.
• Support safety measures to protect patients from injury.

Work hours: Part Time- 20 hours; Weekend Shift; Saturday and Sunday- 10 Hour Shifts

Here’s What You Need

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009 required OR
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program, Vocational Nurse Program, or completion of a military training program in surgical technology required upon hire OR
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program, Vocational Nurse Program, or completion of a military training program in surgical technology preferred
• 1 year of current operating room experience strongly preferred
• CST – Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA or TS-C NCCT) and graduate of an accredited surgical tech program required upon hire OR
• CST – Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA or TS-C NCCT) and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009 required upon hire OR
• CST – Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA or TS-C NCCT) and completion of a military training program in surgical technology required upon hire
• LVN – Licensed Vocational Nurse required upon hire
• BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support required prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly

What You Will Do

• Assist Assists in providing peri-operative care for a patient population that includes Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics.
• Preoperatively assists R.N. circulator in formulating plan of care.
• Assists as needed in coordinating patient care peri-operatively and assumes responsibility and accountability for behavior in order to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
• Post-operatively follows proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies and equipment. Under supervision, assists RN circulator with post-operative duties.
• Infection Prevention: Assists in the delivering of nursing care in a manner that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection and accidental contamination.
• Safety: Assists in delivering care in a manner which protects the patient from injury.
