Job summary

Unity Healthcare in Lafayette, IN is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a part-time position in our surgical services team. The CST will prepare the OR, assist with instrument handling, and support intraoperative workflow while ensuring patient safety and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required; BLS preferred.
• Team-oriented with strong customer service mindset.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment and multitask.
• Monday–Friday schedule with on-call duties may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room by selecting and opening sterile instruments.
• Assembles, adjusts, and checks non-sterile equipment.
• Utilizes sterilizers, lights, suction machines, electrosurgical units, and diagnostic equipment during surgery.
• Assists with sponge, needle, and other supply counts to track materials used in surgery.
• Provide visualization of the operative site.
• Assist with closure of surgical incisions, application of wound vacs, drains, and dressings.
• Assist with surgery scheduling.
• Follow guidelines of HIPAA in maintaining patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room by selecting and opening sterile instruments
• Assembles, adjusts, and checks non-sterile equipment
• Utilizes sterilizers, lights, suction machines, electrosurgical units, and diagnostic equipment during surgery
• Assists with sponge, needle, and other supply counts to track materials used in surgery
• Provide visualization of the operative site
• Utilize appropriate techniques to assist with hemostasis, including but not limited to clamping, cautery, ligation, clips, hemostatic agents, applying tourniquets, and vessel loops
• Perform and assist with closure of surgical incisions, apply wound vacs, placement of drains, and dressings
• Assist with surgery scheduling
• Follow guidelines of HIPAA in maintaining patient confidentiality

Requirements & Skills

• Certification(s): Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required; BLS preferred

• 1Monday – Friday and must be willing to take call occasionally
