Job summary

TriStar Summit Medical Center in Nashville, TN, is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to prepare the operating room, anticipate surgeon and patient needs, and assist with specimens, medications, and dressings. The role requires maintaining a sterile field and adhering to safety guidelines.

The selected candidate will contribute to ongoing OR staff education and equipment readiness while supporting patient care throughout procedures.

Qualifications

• NBSTSA NBSTSA certification required.
• BCLS or CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• One year experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize operating room equipment, instruments, and supplies for various procedures.
• Anticipate surgeon and patient needs during procedures.
• Assist with specimens, prepare and monitor medications, and assist with dressings.
• Maintain a sterile field and ensure a sterile environment during procedures.
• Support safety guidelines and proper body mechanics when moving patients and equipment.
• Participate in orientation and ongoing education of OR staff.
• Assist in stocking and restocking medical supplies.
• Provide surgeons and patients with necessary instruments and equipment.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Your responsibilities and tasks may include:

• Prepare and organize the operating room equipment, instruments, and supplies as required for various surgical procedures
• Anticipate surgeon and patient needs during a procedure
• Take care of specimens, prepare, check, and monitor medications, and assist with dressings
• Set up a sterile and sanitary environment, and maintain the sterile field for the patient during procedures
• Utilize correct body mechanics in moving, transporting, and positioning patients, stretchers, and/or tables in order to prevent injury to patient and personnel
• Follow relevant safety and sanitation guidelines
• Participate in orientation and education of all operating room staff on an ongoing basis
• Participate in stocking and restocking medical supplies
• Provide surgeons and patients with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor, or CPR must be obtained within30 days of employment start date
• Surgical Tech Certification Required - NCCT certification NOT accepted, NBSTSA required.
• One-year experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred
