OrthoIndy Hospital in Greenwood, Indiana, is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join the OIH Surgical Services team. The position features four 10-hour weekday shifts (7:00 am – 5:30 pm) with a rotating day off, minimal call, and full benefits.

• Associate's degree from an accredited surgical technology program required.
• Certified Surgical Technician certification required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares sterile setup with instruments, supplies, equipment and solutions for cases as needed.
• Performs counts as established by policy and procedure.
• Reviews surgeon preference cards.
• Maintains aseptic environment for patients.
• Maintains clean, safe and functional operating room environment and equipment.
• Assists in control of supplies and medications.
• Ensures proper care and maintenance of surgical instrumentation and equipment.

General Statement of Duties: Our Certified Surgical Technologists are responsible for performing a variety of duties in the operating room area to assist the surgical team, such as scrubbing on all types of orthopedic surgical procedures, preparing equipment and sterile instruments for use, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

At our Greenwood hospital, we have four operating rooms and complete over 500 cases per month, a mix of outpatient and inpatient orthopedic cases. The types of cases you can expect are total joints, sports medicine, spine, hand/foot/ankle, and hand/wrist/elbow/shoulder. We have 15 inpatient beds for patients undergoing more invasive procedures, such as disc replacement, spinal fusion or total joint replacement.

Essential Duties

• 1. Prepares sterile setup with instruments, supplies, equipment, and solutions/medications for cases as needed and assists surgeons in all types of procedures as required.
• 2. Performs appropriate counts as established by policy and procedure.
• 3. Reviews surgeon preference cards.
• 4. Maintains aseptic environment for patients.
• 5..Maintains clean, safe, and functional operation room environment and equipment.
• 6. Assists professional personnel in the control of supplies and medications.
• 7. Ensures proper care and maintenance of all surgical instrumentation and equipment used.
