Job summary

Physicians Regional Healthcare System in Florida is seeking a Surgical Technician – Certified to collaborate with the surgical team in the operating room. Responsibilities include preparing the sterile field, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring proper handling of instruments and supplies.

The role involves maintaining aseptic technique, assisting with positioning, and supporting OR efficiency through inventory and documentation, with a focus on patient safety and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist required.
• BLS - Basic Life Support required.
• 0–2 years OR surgical technician experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room with instruments, equipment, and supplies as per procedure and physician preference.
• Maintain a sterile field throughout the procedure using aseptic technique.
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon accurately and efficiently.
• Handle instruments and equipment per policy, including cleaning and sterilization.
• Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse.
• Assist with patient positioning and draping under RN direction.
• Support maintenance of physician preference cards and procedural documentation.
• Restock supplies and prepare rooms for subsequent cases to ensure OR efficiency.
