Job summary

North Okaloosa Medical Center in Crestview, FL is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to assist the surgical team in delivering safe and high-quality patient care in the operating room. You will prepare and maintain the sterile field, anticipate team needs, and ensure proper handling of instruments and supplies.

Responsibilities include instrument handling, counts, room setup, and adherence to infection prevention protocols, with opportunities to support OR efficiency and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Expertise in surgical techniques, instrumentation, and sterile processing.
• Ability to anticipate needs of the surgical team and respond quickly during procedures.
• Strong organizational and time management to maintain efficient workflow.

Responsibilities

• Prepare O.R. with instruments, equipment, and supplies per procedure.
• Maintain sterile field and adhere to asepsis throughout surgery.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments accurately during procedures.
• Handle instruments per policy, inspect, sterilize and document as required.
• Document sponge, needle, and instrument counts with circulating nurse.
• Assist with patient positioning, draping and transfer under RN direction.
• Maintain physician preference cards and procedural documentation.
• Restock supplies, clean and return equipment, prep rooms for next case.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain regular attendance and comply with policies.
• Support infection control and safety standards.
