Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a weekend OR position. Thursday, Friday and Saturday 7:00AM - 7:00PM. 1-2 holidays per year may be required. The CTS role supports safe, efficient procedures and adheres to ethics and compliance standards.

The candidate will prepare the operating room, assist with patient positioning, pass instruments to the surgeon, and help manage specimens when needed. This role emphasizes teamwork and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program is required.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire.
• CPR – Basic Life Support.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, medications, solutions, instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens, if required, for delivery to the laboratory.

There is no call, however, 1-2 holidays per year is required.
