Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for weekend coverage in Illinois. You will prepare the operating suite, assist with patient positioning, pass instruments during procedures, and handle specimens as needed. This role requires CST certification within 12 months of hire and CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certification as a CST within twelve months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating suite with drapes, medications, solutions, instruments, equipment, implants and supplies; ensures availability and functionality of equipment.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery and continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies.
• Receives and processes specimens, if required, for delivery to the laboratory.

Job description

The schedule for this weekend position is: Thursday, Friday and Saturday 7:00AM - 7:00PM. There is no call, however, 1-2 holidays per year is required.

The Certified Surgical Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, medications, solutions, instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies. Ensures availability and functionality of equipment and instruments.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens, if required, for delivery to the laboratory.

Required

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire
