Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas West in Nashville is seeking a Surgical Technician for Donor Care Procurement OR. This PRN rotating role supports cardiovascular and neurosurgical procedures by preparing the operating room, handing instruments, and assisting with patient positioning and draping.

Qualifications include NBSTSA Surgical Tech credential and a BLS within 30 days, with options for HS diploma plus experience or an Associate/Technical degree.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire or transfer (American Heart Association or Red Cross accepted).
• Surgical Tech credential from NBSTSA required before hire/transfer date.
• Education: HS diploma with 2 years experience OR Associate/Technical degree OR 4 years of relevant experience.

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required/requested instruments and supplies to the surgeon during surgery.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of cardiovascular and/or neurosurgical procedures.




• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.




• Hand required/requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.




• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.




• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor/track instrument counts throughout procedures and assist surgeons' provision of hemostasis during surgery.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.




• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
