Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Illinois is hiring a Certified Surgical Tech to support the operating room team and ensure safe, efficient surgical procedures.

You will prepare the operating suite, assist with patient positioning, pass instruments, and help with specimen handling under physician direction.

Requires graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program, CST certification within 12 months, and CPR/BLS. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire.
• CPR – Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, medications, solutions, instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies. Ensures availability and functionality of equipment and instruments.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens, if required, for delivery to the laboratory.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program

Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire

The salary range for this position is $24.29 - $36.44 (Hourly Rate)

Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
