Job summary

Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital is seeking aCertified Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team with setups, instrument handling, patient positioning, and sterile technique. The role requires CST certification within 12 months of hire and CPR/BLS.

• Passes instruments to physician during surgery and tracks instruments.
• Receives and processes specimens for laboratory delivery.

Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, medications, solutions, instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies. Ensures availability and functionality of equipment and instruments.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens, if required, for delivery to the laboratory.

Qualifications

Required

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) within twelve months of hire
• CPR – Basic Life Support
• Physical Demands Requirement:
  • Physical demands required for this role include lift/carry up to 50 pounds and a push/pull force up to 50 pounds
