Qualifications

• Technical School or Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing required.
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required.
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist and BLS - Basic Life Support required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room with instruments, equipment, and supplies per procedure and physician preference.
• Maintains a sterile field and follows universal precautions and aseptic technique.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments accurately during procedures.
• Inspects, cleans, and sterilizes instruments per policy and manufacturer guidelines.
• Counts sponges, needles, and instruments with circulating nurse for patient safety.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under RN supervision.
• Maintains physician preference cards and procedural documentation.
• Restocks supplies and prepares rooms for subsequent cases to ensure OR efficiency.
