Job summary

AdventHealth in Lake Wales, FL seeks a certified surgical technologist to assist with sterile setup, gowning, instrument passing, and specimen handling in the OR. You will maintain sterile technique and support the surgical team through routine and emergency procedures.

Requirements include BLS, CST credentialing, and 2+ years in surgery preferred. This is a full-time, day-shift position at our Lake Wales facility with benefits from day one.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal skills required.
• Completion of validation skills required.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field setup required.
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques required.
• Ability to anticipate emergencies of the Specialty Call Team.
• Ability to organize, promote, and conduct relevant in‑services on unit.
• Proficient in a minimum of 2 surgical specialties preferred.

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures.
• Performs counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Assists other team members with cleaning of the room and prepping for next patient.
• Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
• Recognizes and responds to emergencies appropriately.
• Drapes sterile field and passes instruments to surgeon during procedures.
• Maintains highest standard of sterile technique.
• Prepares sterile dressings and cleans instruments for sterilization.
