Job summary

Ascension in Tulsa, OK seeks a Surgical Tech to support the CVOR team in preparing the operating room, passing instruments, and assisting with patient setup and draping during procedures.

The ideal candidate will maintain instrument counts, assist with hemostasis, and ensure sterile technique throughout surgeries. Required BLS within 30 days and NBSTSA/NCCT/AST credentialing before hire.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider must be obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire/transfer date.
• Credentialed Surgical Tech required before hire: NBSTSA, NCCT (TS-C) or AST.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required/instruments to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments and monitor counts throughout procedures.
• Assist with hemostasis during surgery.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required/requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor/track instrument counts throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons' provision of hemostasis during surgery.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Required Credential(s)

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following:
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
