Job summary

Tenet Healthcare in El Paso, TX is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech to join our operating room team for night shift. The CST assists during surgical procedures, maintains sterile technique, sets up equipment and instruments, and passes instruments as needed.

This is a per diem, nights position with on-call availability as required. Requirements include graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology program, AHA BLS, and surgical technology certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program.
• Surgical technology certification is required.
• AHA BLS certification is required.
• Associate degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain aseptic technique and sterile supplies for assigned cases.
• Set up operating room, equipment, instrumentation and supplies.
• Scrub, pass instruments, and assist with case turnover.
• Be available for on-call as scheduled to meet unit needs.

Job Shift: Nights

Job Type: Per Diem

The Certified Surgical Tech demonstrates basic knowledge and skills in the scrub role, necessary to provide assistance during surgical procedures performed in the department.

The Certified Surgical Tech is responsible for aseptic technique, setting up the required equipment, instrumentation and sterile supplies as needed for their assigned cases; scrubbing and passing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures; pulling cases as needed, breaking down cases at the end of the procedure, sets up operating room and supplies needed for day/following day's schedule. Available for call on an assigned scheduled basis as required by unit need.

Education:

Required: Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program.

Preferred: Associate degree.

Experience:

Preferred: 1 year.

Certifications:

Required: AHA BLS. Surgical Technology certification.
