Job summary

Valley Baptist Health System in Brownsville is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support surgical teams in the OR. You will assist with aseptic setup, instrument handling, and passing tools to the surgeon during procedures.

This role requires graduation from a CAAHEP accredited program; an associate degree is preferred. AHA BLS certification is required, with opportunity for professional development and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program.
• Preferred: Associate degree.
• Certification in Surgical Technology and AHA BLS is required.
• 1 year of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain aseptic technique and prepare equipment and sterile supplies for assigned cases.
• Scrub and pass instruments during surgical procedures.
• Pull cases as needed, break down cases, and set up OR for next day’s schedule.
• Be available for call on an assigned schedule as required by unit need.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Surgical Technologist demonstrates basic knowledge and skills in the scrub role, necessary to provide assistance during surgical procedures performed in the department.
