Job Summary
Certified surgical technician providing intra‑operative support. Acts as the primary scrub person during surgical procedures, handling instruments, supplies, and equipment, maintaining vigilance over the sterile field and preparing operating rooms.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the Physician Preference Card for each procedure.
- Coordinate with the circulating nurse to provide supplies, equipment, and instruments.
- Conduct and document sponge, instrument, and needle counts.
- Use current surgical scrub technology and medical terminology.
- Continuously assess case progress and patient safety, operate and document equipment usage, and adhere to safety precautions with electrosurgical units, lasers, and other equipment.
- Handle and label specimens.
- Perform other related job tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Special Skills: Excellent customer service skills and basic computer skills.
- Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Completion of formal education/training to obtain a Certification as a Surgical Tech.
- Experience: One year of experience with operative procedures, equipment, and instrumentation.
- Licensure/Certification: Surgical Tech certification and CPR.
- Preferred Requirements: Two years of hospital surgical experience.
