Job summary

Ardent Health Services in Amarillo, TX is seeking a day-shift, full-time Certified Surgical Technician (CST) to support surgeons and operating room staff during invasive procedures.

The CST maintains a sterile field, ensures equipment readiness, and supervises the safety of the patient throughout the operative process under the direction of the surgical team. Candidates must hold NBSTSA or NCCT certification and complete an accredited program; BLS must be obtained within 14 days of hire.

Qualifications

• NBSTSA certification or NCCT certification if practicing prior to 2009.
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire or transfer and prior to direct patient care.
• Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited or other nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures under supervision of surgeons, RNs, and other staff.
• Maintain sterile field and ensure quality patient care during operative procedures.
• Ensure operating room safety, proper equipment function, and conditions that maximize patient safety.

Responsibilities

• The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) works under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.
• The CST ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly vigilant in maintaining the sterile field.
• This role ensures the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• Certification: Must hold and maintain certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or NCCT certification if practicing prior to 2009.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Education: Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited or other nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Previous experience as a surgical technologist.
