This role emphasizes instrument counts, infection prevention, and collaboration with nursing staff to maintain OR efficiency.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences required.
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required.
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist required.
• BLS - Basic Life Support required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room by ensuring instruments, equipment, and supplies are set up for the procedure.
• Maintains a sterile field throughout the procedure following aseptic technique.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments and supplies accurately during procedures.
• Handles instruments and equipment per hospital policy, including inspection and sterilization.
• Performs and documents counts with the circulating nurse to support patient safety.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under RN direction.
• Maintains physician preference cards and procedural documentation.
• Restocks supplies and cleans equipment for next cases.
