Job summary

AdventHealth in Lake Wales, Florida is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a full-time, day-shift role. You will assist in surgical procedures, maintain sterile technique, prepare instruments and supplies, and support a high-standard perioperative team.

Responsibilities include instrument passing, patient positioning, specimen handling, and emergency readiness. Requires CST and BLS certifications, with background screening as per Florida law.

Qualifications

• Interpersonal skills required for team collaboration and patient interaction.
• Validation skills completed as part of certification or training.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field setup.
• Knowledge of sterilization techniques and maintaining sterile environments.
• Ability to anticipate emergencies in Specialty Call Team scenarios.
• Ability to organize, promote, and conduct unit in-services.
• Proficiency in at least two surgical specialties is preferred.

• Prepare sterile dressings and sterilize instruments.

Job Description

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.
• Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
• Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient.
• Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
• Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.
• Helps in draping sterile field.
• Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures.
• Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
• Prepares sterile dressings and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) [Required] OR Technician in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) [Required]

Pay Range

$23.10 - $42.96
