Job summary

Talented Medical Solutions is seeking a Travel Certified Surgical Technician (CST) to support the OR team in Foley, Alabama. This days shift assignment (9a–9p or 9a–5p, hours subject to department needs) runs for 8 weeks with ASAP start.

The CST will prepare the operating room, manage sterile fields, and assist surgeons by passing instruments, maintaining counts, and handling specimens. BLS is required and 2–3 years of robotics and orthopedic experience are expected.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required for the role.
• 2–3 years of robotics experience in a surgical setting.
• Orthopedic surgery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the sterile field and set up surgical equipment.
• Pass instruments, fluids and supplies to the surgeon during surgery.
• Manage sterile field and specimens; perform counts to prevent retention of foreign objects.

Surgical technologists prepare the operating room, including the sterile field, setting up surgical equipment, supplies and solutions. During surgery, surgical technologists pass instruments, fluids and supplies to the surgeon and prepare and manage surgical equipment. Surgical technologists simultaneously manage the sterile field and specimens. Surgical technologists perform a count of sponges and supplies to prevent foreign retained objects. Surgical technologists are certified following successful completion of a CAAHEP-accredited program or other programmatically-accredited surgical technology program and the national Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) examination administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
