Job summary

Southwest Virginia Center for Sight is seeking a Certified Surgical Scrub Technician to join our fast-paced surgical team. You will prepare and organize instruments, maintain sterile technique, and support physicians during procedures.

We offer a four-day, 10-hour shift schedule, on-the-job training, health insurance from start, life insurance, PTO, holidays, and an employee referral program.

Qualifications

• Virginia Certified Surgical Scrub Technician (or Virginia equivalent) required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Operating Room experience preferred.
• Completion of Surgical Technician Program or LPN licensure as noted in qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize surgical instruments and supplies based on physician preference cards.
• Follow strict aseptic techniques in all procedural areas.
• Ensure proper functioning and availability of instruments throughout procedures.
• Monitor and report any breaks in sterile technique.
• Clean, care for, and sterilize instruments and equipment per manufacturer and facility guidelines.
• Maintain inventory levels, update records, and ensure accurate instrument tracking.
• Operate sterilization equipment and perform biological and chemical testing as required.
• Assist with storage, restocking, and maintenance of sterile processing areas.

Qualifications

Required:

• Current Certified Surgical Scrub Technician certification/license in the state of Virginia
• Current BLS Certification
• Operating Room Experience
• Strong ethical and moral references
• Completion of a Surgical Technician Program or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure

Preferred:

• Minimum 2 years of OR experience
• Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) experience
