Job summary

Winona Health is seeking a Certified Surgical Assistant (CSFA) for the Operating Room in Winona, MN. 0.80–0.90 FTE with 64–72 hours per pay period; day shifts typically 6:30 am–3:00 pm or 8:00 am–4:30 pm, with late stay and weekend call rotations.

The Surgical Assistant provides intra-operative support under the physician, maintains aseptic technique, and conveys information clearly to the team while performing delegated duties such as suturing, drains, dressings, and wound closure.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical First Assisting.
• Certified as a Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) by the NBSTSA.
• BLS Certification.
• Verbalizes role in codes.
• Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Cerner.

Responsibilities

• Provide delegated intra-operative duties under physician supervision.
• Suture and staple removal, wound closure, and dressing changes.
• Cast applications, drains, and wound management as needed.
• Maintain aseptic technique and patient safety in the OR.
• Communicate clearly with physician and nursing staff.
