Job summary

Olmsted Medical Center is seeking a Part-Time Surgical Assistant (0.6 FTE) to cover Day/Evening shifts in Minnesota. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered with a work commitment. Starting wage ranges from $37.14 to $55.71 per hour, based on experience.

External candidates are typically offered within the min–midpoint of the range. Ideal candidates have CAEHEP NSAA/Mayo Clinic program background, CSA certification, and recent OR experience. BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of a CAEHEP Surgical Assistant program or NSAA-approved Mayo Clinic program
• Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) through NBSTSA or NCCSA
• Experience in operating room settings preferred within last 3 years
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Provide visualization of the operative site.
• Assist with hemostasis using appropriate techniques.
• Assist with closure of body planes.
• Select and apply appropriate wound dressings.
• Assist in securing drainage systems to tissue.
• Assist with volume replacement or auto transfusion.
• Assist with patient positioning.
• Prepare skin for procedures (shave and prep).
• May insert bladder catheter.
• May act as scrub technician as needed.
• Retrieve patients from pre-operative area.
• Demonstrate open communication and teamwork.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Engage in ongoing self-development.
