Job summary

This position requires graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited program, current CSA/CSFA certification, OR experience preferred, and BLS within 90 days. Compensation includes starting wages and shift-based pay.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) Surgical First Assistant program.
• Current certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA).
• Operating Room experience or training within the last three years preferred.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique and perioperative policies and procedural guidelines.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides visualization of the operative site.
• Assists with hemostasis using appropriate techniques.
• Applies closure of body planes with proper techniques.
• Selects and applies appropriate wound dressings.
• Provides assistance in securing drainage system to tissue.
• Participates in volume replacement or auto transfusion techniques as appropriate.
• Assists with positioning the patient.
• Prepares the skin for procedure.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
• Maintains confidentiality and ongoing self-development.
• Other duties as assigned.
