Job summary

Singing River Health System is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) to provide intraoperative aid in exposure, hemostasis, and closure, with preoperative and postoperative duties to ensure optimal patient care. You will work under the surgeon, following hospital policies and accreditation standards.

The CSFA must be certified at hire (or within 6 months if currently a Surgical Technologist) and maintain certification with ongoing CE.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; graduate from accredited Surgical First Assistant Program.
• Certification as CSFA at hire or within 6 months; must be certified through NBSTSA, ABSA, or NCCSA.
• Maintain certification with continuing education; must complete BCLS certification on hire/transfer; de-escalation training by 90 days.
• Minimum of two years' experience as a surgical technologist preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver's license; travel within SRHS service area.

Responsibilities

• Assist in exposure, hemostasis, and closure during surgery; support surgeon and intraoperative tasks.
• Perform preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate patient care.
• Adhere to Singing River Health System policies, accreditation guidelines, and legal regulations.
• Demonstrate professional communication and teamwork in a high-stress surgical setting.
