Job summary

Pardee UNC Health Care is seeking a Surgical Assistant to provide intraoperative support under the supervision of a surgeon. You will assist with exposure, hemostasis, closure, and patient positioning to enable optimal operative results.

Responsibilities include instrument handling, sterility checks, and coordinating supplies per procedure. Requires CSFA NBSTSA and BLS by the start date. Onsite, full-time role with standard day shift.

Qualifications

• Current Certified First Assistant (CSFA) with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers required by first date of clinical care.

Responsibilities

• Administers surgical patient care under the direction of a physician.
• Performs intraoperative technical duties under the direction and supervision of a surgeon. Provides aid in exposure and hemostasis. Utilizes appropriate techniques to assist with closure of body planes as well as skin closure.
• Carries out positioning of the patient as directed by the surgeon.
• Stages and uses equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the surgical setting. Inspects all packaging for sterility.
• References preference cards to ensure proper supplies and instruments are available based on scheduled procedure.
• Identifies and pursues expected patient outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
