Job summary

Singing River Health System is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assistant to aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative tasks under the surgeon’s direction. The role also includes preoperative and postoperative duties to optimize patient care.

Candidates must graduate from an accredited Surgical First Assistant Program and hold CSFA certification (or complete within six months if a Surgical Technologist). BCLS and de‑escalation training are required within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate from an accredited Surgical First Assistant Program.
• CSFA certification at hire or within six months if currently employed as a Surgical Technologist.
• Certification must be maintained by completing continuing education.
• Must maintain BCLS certification and complete de‑escalation training by 90 days.
• Minimum two years' experience as a surgical technologist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative support to the surgeon.
• Perform preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate patient care.
• Follow hospital policies and governing guidelines during procedures.
• Maintain ongoing certification and participate in continuing education.
