JOB SUMMARY
Utilizing medical knowledge, education and training, and experience with surgical anatomy, physiology, aseptic technique, instrumentation, and surgical psychomotor skills, the Surgical Assistant, under the direction and supervision of the surgeon, assists in assigned surgical procedures and services. The certified surgical assistant may serve as a preceptor to Surgical Assistants in training and function as a resource person to OR staff.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
A graduate of an AMA approved Physician Assistant (PA) program with certification and Illinois license or completion of medical education and training as a physician, but unlicensed to practice or a Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) Certified member of the American Board of Surgical Assistants or the National Surgical Assistant Association CPR Certification.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS (INTERNAL/EXTERNAL)
May serve as a resource to surgeon, surgical services, or department in sponsored programs of instruction and training of other healthcare professionals, students, and physicians on behalf of Resilience Healthcare. Adjusts patient interaction and/or treatment to match each patient’s age-specific developmental, educational, or other related needs.
