Position Summary:

Facilitates perioperative nursing care by assisting surgeons to achieve desired surgical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work Monday-Friday, 0645-1515. No call required.
• Assist with procedures under the supervision of the surgeon, including wound exposure, hemostasis, suturing, wound dressing, drains, and postoperative local anesthesia injections.
• Ensure patient safety through knowledge of tissue handling, suturing, wound care, and sterile techniques.
• Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, and adjust nursing processes to meet standards.
• Maintain a sterile environment and assist with equipment setup and checks.
• Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts per policy.

Qualifications:

• Two years' experience in surgery or completion of approved training.
• Current Illinois Registered Nurse License.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
