JOB SUMMARY
The Surgical Assistant, under the surgeon's supervision, utilizes medical knowledge, education, training, and experience in surgical anatomy, physiology, aseptic techniques, instrumentation, and surgical psychomotor skills to assist in surgical procedures. The certified surgical assistant may also serve as a preceptor for training Surgical Assistants and act as a resource for OR staff.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant (PA) program with certification and Illinois licensure, or medical education and training as a physician (unlicensed), or a Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA), certified by the American Board of Surgical Assistants or the National Surgical Assistant Association. CPR certification is required.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS (INTERNAL/EXTERNAL)
May serve as a resource to surgeons, surgical services, or departments in training healthcare professionals, students, and physicians on behalf of Resilience Healthcare. Adjusts patient interactions and treatments to match age-specific developmental, educational, or other needs.
Pay Rate: $35 - $45 per hour
