Job summary

Frye Regional Medical Center has an opening for a Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) in the operating room. The schedule is 5 days on, 8-hour shifts.

The role focuses on positioning patients, visualizing the operative site, and assisting with hemostasis and closures to support safe, efficient surgeries. Essential responsibilities include preparing the patient, maintaining sterility, and aiding in wound management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Certification for Surgical Technology (NBSTSA) preferred or required.

Responsibilities

  • Positions patient for optimal exposure during surgery.
  • Provides visualization of operative site and assists with tissue handling.
  • Utilizes hemostasis techniques and assists with wound closure and drainage.

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Frye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina is a 355-bed acute care hospital, 81-bed Behavioral Health facility and more than 70 primary and specialty care providers.

Essential Functions
  • Positions patient to give best exposure for surgical procedure, using stabilizing equipment when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
  • Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate method, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
  • Utilizes appropriate technique to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
    Assists with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.
Non-Essential Functions
  • Position serves both internal co-workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Access to and/or works with sensitive and/or confidential information.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA). Skilled in the application of policies and procedures. Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
Licenses:
  • Certification for Surgical Technology with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
  • Competent in at least 3 specialty areas.
