Job summary

Havasu Regional Medical Center is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) to join our operating room team. The CSFA will work closely with surgeons and OR staff to provide direct intraoperative support, ensure patient safety, and contribute to efficient procedures.

This is a full-time daytime role with a 5x8 schedule (6:30 am–3:00 pm), Monday through Friday. We offer a $15,000 sign-on bonus with a 3-year commitment, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth

Qualifications

• Arizona Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) per NBSTSA requirements.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum 1 year CSFA experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct assistance to the surgeon during procedures.
• Positions patients to optimize exposure and comfort.
• Visualizes operative site and aids in tissue handling, suctioning, irrigation.
• Assists with hemostasis and wound closure/dressings; manages drainage.
• Supports safe, high-quality surgical care in a team setting.

How You’ll Contribute

A Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) who excels in this role:

• Provides direct assistance to the surgeon(s) during surgical procedures.
• Positions patients to give best exposure for surgical procedures, using stabilizing equipment, when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
• Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate methods, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
• Utilizes appropriate techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
• Assists with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.

What We’re Looking For

Applicants should have a current Arizona Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting and Graduate of a Program in Discipline Required. Associate’s Degree Preferred. Minimum of 1 year of CSFA experience required.

Additional Requirements Include

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Licenses: Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting
• Education: Associate degree Preferred; Graduate of a Program in Discipline Required
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of CSFA experience required.
