Job summary

Havasu Regional Medical Center in Lake Havasu City, AZ seeks a Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) for General Surgery. This full-time role offers a $15,000 sign-on bonus with a 3-year commitment, and a 5x8 day schedule (6:30 am - 3:00 pm), Monday to Friday.

The CSFA collaborates with surgeons to ensure safe, efficient procedures and excellent patient outcomes. Ideal candidates will have CSFA certification, NBSTSA approval, and at least 1 year of CSFA experience, with an Associate degree

Qualifications

  • Arizona CSFA certification with NBSTSA required.
  • Graduate of a program in discipline required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year CSFA experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct assistance to the surgeon during procedures.
  • Positions patients to optimize exposure while ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Visualizes operative site with tissue handling, retraction, suction, and irrigation.
  • Utilizes techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
  • Assists with wound closure and drainage systems.

How you'll contribute

A Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) who excels in this role:

  • Provides direct assistance to the surgeon(s) during surgical procedures.
  • Positions patients to give best exposure for surgical procedures, using stabilizing equipment, when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
  • Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate methods, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
  • Utilizes appropriate techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
  • Assists with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have a current Arizona Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting and Graduate of a Program in Discipline Required. Associate's Degree Preferred. Minimum of 1 year of CSFA experience required.

Additional requirements include:

  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.
  • Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Licenses: Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
  • Education: Associate degree Preferred; Graduate of a Program in Discipline Required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of CSFA experience required.
