Job summary

Havasu Regional Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Certified Surgical First Assist to join our general surgery team. The CSFA will work with surgeons to provide direct intraoperative assistance, patient positioning, and meticulous hemostasis while maintaining patient safety and high quality care.

Ideal candidates hold an Arizona CSFA certificate with NBSTSA, have an accredited CSFA program graduate, and at least 1 year of CSFA experience.

Qualifications

• Must be a current Arizona CSFA with NBSTSA.
• Graduate of an accredited CSFA program.
• Minimum of 1 year CSFA experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon during procedures.
• Position patients for exposure and safety.
• Visualize operative site; manage tissue and suction.
• Achieve hemostasis; assist with closures and dressings.

How you'll contribute

A Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) who excels in this role:

• Provides direct assistance to the surgeon(s) during surgical procedures.
• Positions patients to give best exposure for surgical procedures, using stabilizing equipment when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
• Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate methods, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
• Utilizes appropriate techniques to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
• Assists with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have a current Arizona Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting and be a graduate of a program in the required discipline. Associate’s degree preferred.

Minimum of 1 year of CSFA experience required.

Additional Requirements

• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.
• Required skills: critical thinking, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Licenses: Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
• Education: Associate degree preferred; graduate of a program in the required discipline.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of CSFA experience required.
