Job summary

Grosse Pointe Hospital, part of Corewell Health, seeks a Certified Surgical Assistant to support surgeons under direct supervision in approved procedures at the Grosse Pointe location. This part-time, rotating shift role emphasizes patient safety, teamwork and adherence to sterile technique.

Required: completion of a Surgical Tech First Assistant or CSA program, certification such as CSA or CSFA by NBSTSA/NCCSA, BLS; 2 years of relevant experience preferred; further certifications welcomed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma Required
• Associate’s Degree or equivalent Preferred.
• Required years of relevant experience in lieu of associate’s degree may be considered
• Completion of a Surgical Tech First Assistant or Certified Surgical Assistant Program Required
• Must receive certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant Certification (CSA) through the NCCSA, or Certified Surgical First Assistant Certification (CSFA) through the NBSTSA
• Upon Hire Required 2 years of relevant experience; Surgical assisting experience Preferred
• Certified (CST) – AST Association of Surgical Technologist Preferred
• Certified (CST) – NBSTSA National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Preferred
• Certified (CSFA) – NBSTSA National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Upon Hire Required
• Or At least one Certification from preferred list: Certified (CSA) – NCCSA National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants Upon Hire Required
• Or Certified (SA-C) – ABSA America Board Surgical Assistant Upon Hire Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Upon Hire Required
• AHA ACLS Adv Cardiovascular Life Support Upon Hire Preferred
